Tim Braun ’79 says he’ll never forget his Robert Morris experience. Now living in Arizona, he continues to share his Colonial pride with family and friends on occasional drives around campus when he is in town.
Braun received a bachelor’s in management with a minor in marketing. With his education, he grew his career in the world of retail. Today, he is the vice president and general manager of the Neiman Marcus in Scottsdale and has been with the company for 25 years. His responsibilities include daily operations in merchandising, marketing, and community relations.
Braun says his Colonial pride is strong because he belonged to Robert Morris as it made the journey from a junior college to a university. “The professors at RMU, it wasn’t all about them, but it was about togetherness and making you feel important,” he says. He still remembers how impressed he was in 1994 when he heard that Joe Walton, a former NFL coach with the Steelers and Jets, had been named as the first coach of a new Robert Morris football team.
To stay connected with RMU, Braun reads his eFoundations each month and frequently jumps on the school’s website to check out the campus news and alumni stories. “I’m so far away from Pittsburgh, yet I feel so close,” he says.
