Now that the dust has settled, I’m able to take a moment and reflect on the amazing events held during this year’s Homecoming Weekend. I must say, as an alumna and employee of RMU, I have never been more proud of my colleagues and alma mater. In one weekend we held seven events, which included having hundreds of alumni, students, family and friends on campus. It was truly a sight to see.
We kicked off the weekend with the Inauguration of Dr. Chris Howard, eighth President of RMU. Sewall Center Arena was packed with over a thousand in attendance, there to not only show support, but to witness a historic event as the university’s first African American president was formally installed. Following the ceremony, the fun continued throughout the rest of the day with the Inauguration Reception, Empowering Women Panel and Alumni Happy Hour at Buford’s Kitchen.
After an eventful Friday, we arrived bright and early Saturday morning to prep for Homecoming. Colonials fans were able to enjoy tours around campus, party with old and new friends in Tailgate Alley, meet Dr. Howard at the All-Alumni Reception, and then relax and watch the game as we put up a good fight against the Red Flash. The Alumni Zone had a huge turnout, where over 225 Colonials watched the game in the end zone while enjoying good food and activities for all ages.
Again, wow! What a weekend, what a team, what a family. Go Colonials!
