Growing up in Findlay Township, Doug Lynn '93 was a Colonials fan long before becoming a student. He spent many evenings and weekends playing pick-up basketball in the John Jay Center. The Robert Morris roots run deep for Lynn, going all the way back to his grandfather, James Lynn ’28, who graduated when RMU was still called the Pittsburgh School of Accountancy.
In his sophomore year, Lynn was unsure which career path he wanted to take, until he read in a magazine that accounting was one of the most promising entry-level careers. “I thought, ‘If I’m at a place with a great reputation for accounting, and it’s a great profession, then that’s what you do,’” says Lynn.
Today he’s celebrating 23 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where his career began before he even graduated from Robert Morris. During his senior year, an RMU alum was recruiting for the company and helped Lynn get an interview. He was offered a job in their financial audit practice and has been with the firm ever since, now working in the risk assurance practice, where he helps large companies manage technology-driven transformations.
Some of his favorite memories as an undergraduate involve his time with his Alpha Chi Rho fraternity brothers, as well as being the president of Student Government Association. “One of my fondest memories is winning the SGA presidency and having the opportunity to engage directly with the administration and the Board of Trustees,” he says.
Lynn and his wife Amanda reside in Upper St. Clair with his stepson Jackson and their daughter James (named after her great-grandfather). He attends multiple RMU events each year, most recently bringing his family to RMU Night at PNC Park. Lynn is looking forward this year's Homecoming.
