Tom and Tracie Swesky Arnold are committed to RMU — and each other. This Colonial Couple not only both earned B.S.B.A. degrees in 1992, they completed the M.B.A. program together in 1997. Now Tom is the CFO at Western Reserve Academy in Ohio and Tracie is a benefits consultant at Londino Group. They live in Hudson, Ohio, with their 13-year- old son, Griffin.
They almost didn't meet, because Tracie, a legacy whose father attended Robert Morris, originally intended to stay only for a two-year degree. But she soon changed her mind. “After my first year, I knew I was going to stay because it was such a great experience," Tracie says.
In her junior year she met Tom. Without computers in their dorms, they trekked together to Lafayette and to the library computer lab to complete assignments. Along the way, they fell in love. Their first official date was the Snow Ball, and this year they’re celebrating 23 years of marriage. That would probably shock the professor who taught their Marriage and Family class. “He told Tom and me he didn’t think we were meant to be together,” Tracie says, laughing.
Their connection to RMU goes beyond their degrees. After a short stint in corporate America, Tom returned to work at Robert Morris for 10 years as director of business operations while Tracie, working as a consultant, had Robert Morris as a client.
"What we remember most of our days at Robert Morris are our friends," says Tom. He says they stay in touch regularly with their former classmates. "The connections that we made eating at Jefferson Hall, watching our winning basketball team, and studying in the library have lasted a lifetime."
