Wednesday, March 25, 2015
The School of Engineering, Mathematics and Science Research and Outreach Center (SEMS-ROC) will host Elementary Family STEM Night this Saturday, March 28. The event, recently awarded a $1,000 sponsorship from the Sprout Fund, will bring together more than 200 K-4 students and their families for an engaging evening of collaborative learning.
Families will be able to work together at 18 stations facilitated by faculty and students, as well as the Pittsburgh Glass Museum, the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium, and other local organizations.
Matt Maurer, Ph.D., an associate professor of science, and Sarah MacDonald, SEMS-ROC outreach manager, have also had a manuscript on Elementary Family STEM Night accepted for publication in Science and Children, the National Science Teachers Association journal focused on K-6 science education.
